Gaffa Gallery, Beauté

Photographer:
Studio Harcourt and Matt Granger
© Studio Harcourt, Brigitte Bardot

Beauté is a joint photographic portraiture exhibition of Studio Harcourt Paris and Matt Granger Photography.

Founded in 1934, Studio Harcourt is the most prestigious photographic portrait studio in Europe, having immortalised hundreds of public icons including Salvador Dali and Brigitte Bardot.

Matt Granger Photography is a portrait studio based in Sydney, specialising in environmental location portraiture. Matts work displays a sense of drama and distinct lighting techniques, even in his more avant garde and playful portraits.

Beauté contrasts classic Harcourt portraits of famous European celebrities with a collection of Matt Grangers portraits of 'everyday' people. The juxtaposition raises questions of beauty and fame, and marks the entrance of Studio Harcourt to the Australian artistic movement.

Official Opening Event on Thursday 2 June, 6pm-8pm
Artist Talk on Saturday 4 June, 3-4pm

Date of Show:
Wed, 1/06/2011 - Mon, 13/06/2011
