At Perry Lane, Restore: the wildlife and landscapes of the Macquarie Marshes

The Macquarie Marshes Nature Reserve, near Warren in western NSW, protects one of Australia’s most important wetlands. Despite this protection, decades of low river flows caused by upstream water extraction and drought have led to major ecological damage.
Since 2007, Tom Rayner has spent more than 350 days in the field, documenting efforts to bring the Marshes back to life using artificial floods. 'Restore' showcases that recovery - from parched desert to soaked oasis. Tom's photography provides a rare glimpse into this beautiful swamp and challenges our preconceptions of Australia's natural environments.
