The annual Sing Sing in Goroka, Papua New Guinea takes place in early September. It is the oldest such event in the country, beginning in the late 1950s.
The 2014 event was one of the most colourful and well attended in recent years. Up to 1000 local people take part in the two day festival held at the local Goroka sportsground.
Traditional clothes include jewellery of shells, rare bird beaks, and pig tusks. Head-dresses are even more elaborate with birds of paradise very common. The bright sun soon cracks the bright facial paint of the dancers, enhancing not hiding the person underneath.
