Tokyo Gardens takes us on a visual tour of the Japanese capital’s gardens, photographed throughout the four seasons in both colour and black-and-white. The series features 14 gardens in total, spanning 400 years of history. Ijichi’s photography not only captures the tranquil beauty of the gardens, it also evokes the gardens’ rich cultural past. We are reminded that in a highly modernised and urban Tokyo, these gardens provide a zen-like refuge and a sense of connection to Japan’s rich traditional culture.
